Mrs. Frederick

ELAR and Social Studies

I am a Native Texan who obtained my Bachelor’s Degree from UT Austin and my Master’s Degree from UT Arlington. This is my 15th year teaching elementary school. I love my job and look forward to working with the kids every day!

I have been married to my husband, Chase, for almost 10 years. We have 2 sons and 1 daughter: Charlie is 7, Luke is 6, and Emily is 3. They attend our neighborhood schools in Prosper. We are a sports loving family who spend our weekends at the soccer fields, football stadiums, baseball parks, etc. Our family loves to explore and enjoy lots of adventures. People would say I love my family, enjoy reading and shopping, find coffee a necessity in life, and bleed orange for my Texas Longhorns! I am so thrilled to join the Walker staff and cannot wait to meet my students and families.

Mrs. Kane

Writing, Science, and Social Studies

Hey, Walker Stars! Welcome to our team! My name is Monica Kane, and I cannot wait for our time together to begin! This is my 19th year of teaching and my fifteenth year teaching at Walker. This will be my sixth year of teaching 4th grade here at Walker, and I have also taught 2nd and 3rd grades. This year, I will be teaching Writing, Science, and Social Studies!

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband Cary and our two children – Ella, a loving, funny, and considerate 14 year old, and Rylan, who is an active, determined, and caring 10 year old. We enjoy being outside, swimming, playing and watching sports, and traveling. I also love to read, bake, paint, and cheer my kiddos on while they play soccer!

I know that we are going to have a wonderful year learning, growing, and laughing together! My goal is to make this your BEST year yet!

Ms. Paul

Math, Science, and Social Studies

Hi Walker Stars! My name is Lindsay Paul and I’m thrilled to be starting my 6th year of teaching at Walker! I have deep roots in McKinney as I am a proud Glen Oaks Tiger, Dowell Lion, and McKinney Boyd Bronco! I even participated in the Ready, Set, Teach program here at Walker while in high school!

I attended Austin College where I received a Bachelors in Psychology with a History minor and a Masters in the Art of Teaching. While in college, I caught the travel bug through experiences studying abroad in Scotland and Wales. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do, and I have a reputation of always having a future trip planned! When I’m not traveling, I love to cook, do crafts or puzzles, and sing along to musicals (badly).

My goal as a teacher is to help students experience the joy of discovery! I have a passion for learning new things and researching things I’m curious about. I love to help my students develop a love of learning too! It’s going to be a great year of learning together!

Mrs. Runeberg

Welcome to 4th grade! My name is Michelle Runeberg, and I am thrilled to be joining this fabulous team! This is my 19th year in education and my 16th year at Walker Elementary.

I was born and raised in Marshalltown, Iowa, but moved to McKinney when I was in 9th grade. I had the pleasure of attending and graduating from THE McKinney High school. I then attended the University of North Texas to pursue my passion for education. Upon graduating from UNT I began my teaching career in Slidell, Texas, but was quickly drawn back to McKinney where I became a Walker Star! Walker is an amazing community and holds a special place in my heart. All 3 of my kiddos were Walker Stars! My family and I are so lucky to continue to be a part of this amazing Walker family.

In my free time, I enjoy puzzling, spending time with my 3 kiddos, and taking care of my “zoo”. I look forward to getting to know you and grow with you. My goal as a teacher is to ensure that EVERY student feels comfortable and confident in and outside of my classroom while developing a passion for learning and wanting more. I know that this will be the best year yet!

Mrs. Vest

ELAR and Social Studies

Hi Walker Stars! We are so excited to have you join our awesome team! My name is Hailey Vest and I cannot wait for our time together this year, and for all the fun learning experiences we are going to share together! This is going to be my third year teaching and second year at Walker! You may remember me last year as Ms. Hunt, but I got married in December and I got a cool, new last name! I am going to be teaching Reading, Writing and Social Studies this year, and I can’t wait to watch you all learn all about characters in your favorite books, share all about yourself and your dreams in your writing, and learn all about our great state’s history!

If you see me outside of school, I am usually spending time with my husband Will, watching a sporting event of some kind, or scouting out all the fun Target dollar spot finds! I also enjoy exercising, and I cooking new, yummy recipes! I have also really enjoyed getting to travel to different cities to watch Will play baseball. This is just a small snippet into who I am and I can’t wait for you to continue to learn more about me, because I surely can’t wait to learn all about you!

I know that this is going to be a great year, and I can’t wait to watch you all grow, learn and dream this year!
